This one's going to take a looong time...

Georgina Westley

I thought it might be nice to share something I am currently working on.

Well, more like chipping away at really; I'm about 30% in. As I've mentioned in previous posts, I try to let each place dictate the tone. Some prints like Sandy Heath Transmitter suit being stripped down to its basic parts and given an almost otherworldly quality.

In contrast, this illustration needs to be packed to the brim with detail. All the buildings are at different angles, shadows are thrown in odd directions, greenery oozing from crumbling stone walls. Man, this one will take some time. In terms of composition, I have a very clear image in my mind.

Of course it will be important to get the beautiful viaduct in but I also want to show the huge variety of buildings. From new builds to ancient churches, chequered houses to river front cafes. My brother kindly offered to go there to get some more pictures from different angles. He even hired a boat to get the exact shot I was after. Don't feel sorry for him. He owes me, big time. Only joking Ben, you did great and I really, really appreciate it.

I don't know when this one will be finished as I've got tons of work on at the moment. Lots of corporate work, a whole host of other travel posters that will probably get finished way before this one. But I thought it would be nice to share this with you...so, any ideas of where it is yet?
